Offshore fishing in Miami has been fantastic this month, with anglers reeling in a variety of exciting species. Dolphin (Mahi-Mahi) have been abundant, with some impressive catches reported near the Gulf Stream. These fish are being found in the 400-600 ft range, with many ranging between 15 to 30 pounds. Trolling ballyhoo or lures with bright colors has been the most effective technique. The action has been especially good around the Fowey Rocks area, making it a prime location for anglers seeking Mahi.

The Kingfish bite is also strong, particularly around the reefs and wrecks located off Miami Beach. These fish have been hitting on live bait like pilchards and mullet. Many anglers have reported successful catches while slow trolling live bait or using deep-diving plugs. The Kingfish action is expected to continue as we move into the summer months, making Miami a top destination for this species.

Additionally, Blackfin tuna and sailfish have been spotted in deeper waters, particularly around the Miami Sea Buoy. The tuna bite has been consistent, with anglers using small jigs and live ballyhoo for the best results. As for sailfish, while not as active as in peak season, there have still been a few hookups on kites and live baits.

With warmer waters, expect wahoo fishing to pick up in the coming weeks, especially around the drop-offs and ledges. As always, the weather in Miami has been cooperative for fishing trips, and the sea conditions remain calm, making for a pleasant day on the water.
